Char Siu/Xa Xiu - Chinese Barbecue Pork
🔸 2 1⁄2 lb Pork (cut into medium chunks)
🔸 1 packet Chinese Barbecue Char Siu Seasoning mix
🔸 5 Garlic cloves (minced)
🔸 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
🔸 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
🔸 1 Tbsp Vegetable oil
1. Place the Pork chunks into a large bowl. Add 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce, 5 cloves of minced Garlic, the whole Chinese Barbecue Char Siu Seasoning mix. Mix and let it marinate for 4 hours in the fridge or overnight for BEST results.
2. Remove the Pork out of the fridge 30 minutes prior to cooking. In a pan on medium low heat, add 1 tsp Vegetable Oil and let the Pork cook with the lid ON for 12 minutes. Flip and continue cooking with the lid ON for another 12 minutes.
3. Take off the lid and turn up heat to medium, cook for about 10 minutes so the meat can absorb the juice. Flip back and forth every so often so it doesn’t burn. You want both sides to be a little charred.
4. Remove it from heat and let it cool down for 10 minutes. Cut in thin or thick slices. Enjoy this with rice, bread, or egg noodles!
